Syrac Inspirations Host Workshop Inspired by Tony Robbins 2mm Rule

Sheffield-based event-marketing firm Syrac Inspirations hosted a workshop this week inspired by the Tony Robbins 2mm Rule.

Tony Robbins is an American businessman, author, and philanthropist. Robbins was named by the Harvard Business Press as one of the Top 200 Business Gurus, and has an estimated net worth of over $480 million according to a 2015 Forbes article.

The optional workshop, hosted by Syrac Inspirations Managing Director Rachel Robinson was held for the firm’s staff and contractors, and was also accessible to the sales and marketing professionals who share the same office building. The workshop began with an 8-minute video clip of Robbins explaining the 2mm rule. During the video, Robbins uses a golfing analogy and the story of a plastic surgeon to explain the marginal difference between winning and losing. Robbins also shared the story of his background, starting out with minimal education, working as a janitor on minimum wage before going on to become a world-renowned business guru. Robbins used the 2mm rule to explain how he achieved his success. He explained that by conditioning himself to be in a state of certainty, and the use of incantations and repetition, he changed his physiology and psychology.  Robbins believes that when it looks like you’re a million miles away from where you want to be, you’re usually only 2 millimetres away from victory. The biggest takeaway from the video was the quote, ‘when it seems impossible when it seems like nothing is going to work, you’re usually just a few millimetres away from making it happen’.

Mr Robbins believes there is a 2mm difference between someone being a winner and a loser and that unique proposition was something that inspired Ms Robinson to run a workshop based on this theory. During the one-hour workshop, Ms Robinson explored the idea that all it takes is a little shift in psychology or strategy to achieve the desired results.

Ms Robinson explained that success is based on opportunity and maximisation and that opportunities for maximization can be found in almost every area of business. The entrepreneur and business owner went on to highlight that the key to successfully implementing the 2mm rule is to track performance in all areas and then to identify the biggest areas of challenge and work to make improvements that will have the biggest impact.

Ms Robinson hailed the workshop as a big success and stated that she is excited to see the impact it’s had in the coming weeks.
